Description
Do your students need practice with the suffix -ion? There are so many spelling patterns for this suffix that many students will need additional help to master spelling, reading, and recognizing words with the suffix.
These word cards are a low-stress way for your students to practice adding the suffix -ion to transform verbs into nouns. Students can match the verbs and nouns (act –> action), or they can sort the words to show the different spelling patterns.
Suffix -ION Presentation Daily Routine
If you need to teach your students about the ION suffix, you can use our daily routine. There is a free version on the website, or you can purchase the slides.
Also, please note that this activity only includes examples of base word verbs becoming nouns. I do not cover nouns that end in the -ion suffix that do not stem from a base word. For example, nation is not included. Nation comes from a root that cannot stand on its own as a base word.
