Description
Do you need to teach your students about the suffix ness? This suffix -ness presentation takes care of one week of lesson plans!
Suffix -NESS Presentation Daily Routine
Day 1: Introduce the function of suffixes. They change the meanings of words or give us more information about a word. This lesson is about the suffix -ness. Adding the suffix -ness changes an adjective into a noun. For example, quick becomes quickness. Today, you will only teach adding -ness.
Day 2: You will follow the same routine as day 1, but you will introduce adding the suffix -ness to words that end in the letter y. In this case, students drop the letter y and add -iness. For example, happy becomes happiness.
Day 3 – 5: Review Days
Mixed Review: You will also get 25 mixed review slides to incorporate into later practice sessions.
Also, please note that this activity only includes examples of base word adjectives becoming nouns. I do not cover verbs becoming nouns (forgive becomes forgiveness).
