Description
Do you need to teach your students about the suffix ly? This suffix -ly presentation takes care of one week of lesson plans!
Suffix -LY Presentation Daily Routine
Day 1: Introduce the function of suffixes. They change the meanings of words or give us more information about a word. This lesson is about the suffix -ly. Adding the suffix -ly to a base word usually changes a noun or adjective into an adverb. Adverbs describe how actions are done. For example, quiet becomes quietly.
Day 2: You will follow the same routine as day 1, but you will introduce adding the suffix -ly to words that end in a y. In this case, we take away the -y and add -ily. For example, angry becomes angrily.
Day 3: You will follow the same routine as days 1 and 2, but you will introduce adding the suffix -ly to words that end in -le. In this case, we drop the e and add -y. For example, gentle becomes gently.
Day 4: You will follow the same routine as days 1, 2, and 3, but you will introduce adding the suffix -ly to words that end in c. In this case, add -ally to the end of the word. For example, energetic becomes energetically.
Day 5: Students will practice all of the spelling patterns.
Mixed Review: You will also get 25 mixed review slides to incorporate into later practice sessions.
