- Every second, your body makes 25 million new cells.
- Goosebumps make the hair on your arms and legs stand up. When our hairier ancestors got spooked, they would puff up and look bigger and more threatening to predators.
- You have between 60,000 and 100,000 miles of blood vessels in your body. Laid out end to end, they would circle the Earth four times.
- Humans are the only animals with chins.
- Over your lifetime, you produce enough saliva to fill two swimming pools.
- Genetically, all humans are 99% identical.
- The cells that make up the corneas of your eyes get oxygen from the air, not from the bloodstream.
- Your skin is the largest organ in your body. It makes up about 15% of your total weight.
- When you listen to music, your heartbeat syncs to the rhythm.
- Your nose can identify one trillion smells. Your sense of smell is 10,000 times more sensitive than your sense of taste.
- You will die from a lack of sleep before you die from starvation. The longest someone reported going without sleep was about 11 days, but after just 3 or 4 days, you will start to suffer from hallucinations.
