What Makes a Teacher Effective?
What makes a teacher effective? This is the question I have been studying ever since I left my own classroom five years ago. When I was teaching, I was too busy to ponder big questions like these. Heck, I was too busy to think about anything except making it to the next day. Now, I create resources based on what I have learned about how we learn to help other busy teachers.
I always say teaching is too big of a job for one person. I want to be your teaching partner. That’s why I create engaging teaching tools! When you use my resources, you can focus on serving your students. I also share what I learn about how the brain works to help you make your teaching as effective as possible.

One of the key parts of what makes a teacher effective is using the best resources. Engage New York Math is a fantastic program for teaching math. I love that all of the lessons build on each other from year to year. When I used Engage New York when I taught third grade many years ago, and I found my students needed more to enjoy and understand the lessons. I started by creating interactive notebooks to review the lessons. Then, I added activities for math rotations, and in 2020, I created digital activities on Google Slides.
Engage New York Math allows people to create materials based on the curriculum as long as they are shared for free. That’s why I now offer all of my Engage New York Math resources here at no charge.

I am creating all the time. If you want to stay up to date with my latest resources and get tips on teaching according to brain science sent directly to your inbox, subscribe to my newsletter! I can’t wait to share more ideas about what makes a teacher effective!
